See how flour is milled the ancient way at the Town Mill then join Giselle to learn three classic Spanish biscuit recipes shared over generations and generations.

Experience

10 - 10.45am Mill Tour

This class starts with an exclusive guided tour of the adjoining Town Mill; a pre-Domesday water-powered mill dating back to at least 1340, the time of Edward III. 


  • We will visit the Stone Floor, Sack Floor & Meal Floor
  • A miller will share about the history, restoration and present day working of the Mill
  • We will see the waterwheel in action, powering half-ton millstones grinding grain into flour
  • See a demonstration of the milling process and how flour is made the traditional way
  • Get hands-on, raising a sack hoist and milling grain


11am - 1pm - Class

Back to neighbouring Strawberry Tree for the biscuit making class.

 

Together we will make:


  • “Maronchinos” traditional, Spanish Sephardic macaroon biscuits, naturally gluten-free.
  • “Mantecados” traditional at Christmas time in Andalusia, these shortbread biscuits come in numerous flavours.

Giselle will demonstrate:

  • “Pestiños” mini fried pastries in a honey syrup, traditional in southern Spain.



*A note about the couples discount - two people don't have to be "a couple" they can be friends or family! This discount simply reflects two people sharing a workstation and the cooking tasks and takeaway goodies – no arguing, please!
